Name meaning :  Aboriginal word for "coal" or "charcoal".
Notes : Start of the Fingal Line. Location still has a crossing loop. Previous facilities included a triangle (wye), loco facilities, refreshment room, goods shed and watering facilities. Similar to other stations in Tasmania the local Post Office was once at the station. As built this station had two platforms.

Jenny Smith states :

The two ASG's are G7 (left) and G12 (right). The pair were stored here at Conara Jcn for 5 to 6 years. G7 was towed back to Launceston in late 1961 and listed as cut up by 23-10-1961. G12 lasted a little longer and ended up being sold to the Emu Bay Railway on the 10-7-1962 to become their No.20A. It ran on the EBR for about 14 months, being withdrawn with the rest of their garratts in late 1963 and scrapped at Burnie in 1964.
