Type : Station
Line : Apsley Branch
Distance from Brighton Junction : 21.283km
Opened : 22 April 1891
Closed : 29 September 1947
Status : Closed
Name meaning : Unknown
Notes : Dysart station was located at 13 miles and 18 chains (21.283km) from Brighton, the station itself was sited some distance from the town it served and was in the middle of fields.
The passenger platform was on the Up side of the line and had a building that contained a waiting room and a store room and a male urinal, A goods shed (erected in 1903) was sited opposite on a Down side loop. There was a stock yard located at the Brighton (Up) end of the yards as well as a loading ramp and sheep race and there was a short spur at the location.
Located at the Up end of the yard was also a house for railway staff.
Just north of the station (a further 40 chains) was the highest point of the line.
Dysart was an unattended station after the 1920s and this led to the local Green Ponds council making representations to the Railways to have an attendant on hand to stop pilfering of goods and items left there in the 1930s. The response was in the negative.
