Name meaning : After Blackmede Rd in the nearby village of Backmede (note the spelling variations), originally to be called Runnymead after the school nearby, this would have conflicted with a town name in Tasmania (Runnymede).
Notes : The small village it served lies a few hundred metres to the east. The 4.87 metre platform was on the Down side. Although the station closed in 1965, it still appeared in the 1968 timetable, however no trains were timetabled nor was it a request stop.
