Name meaning : After Colonel Paterson, temporary governor of NSW after William Bligh
Notes : The station has shifted 19.2 metres from the original site. Up side platform was 91.4 metres, later shortened to 5 metres and then re-extended. A3 standard station building with waiting room, station masters office, cream shed and parcels room. A goods shed was provided along with the SM house. Loop installed at time of opening. 1/7/1936 central interlocked loop added. 1946 electric lighting installed. 19/12/1961 Hunter Valley Co-operative siding installed (now used by the Rail Motor Society) - this is accessed of a 437 metre goods siding. Passing loop extended to 1783 metres (date unknown). 25/7/1988 goods loop siding converted to a dead end siding.
