Name meaning : Named by Governor Lachlan Macquarie - in honour of H. M. Buchanan Esqr. – that being the name of his Seat on Loch-Lomond in Scotland.
Notes : Location had watering facilities and a crossing loop, the station was used from 1999 for tourist trains. Station demolished. Location had a Refreshment Room that opened 1/10/1889. In 1943, the Ross Railway Station had a small upgrade to include a canteen that supplied food and beverages for travelling servicemen.

Ross Railway Station, (#91) - c.1870's

Locomotive XA4 arriving with the Wynyard-bound Tasman Limited at the Midlands village of Ross. In the November 1973 timetable, the Wynyard-bound service arrived at 12.31pm whilst the Hobart service arrived at 3.01pm. In the early 1970s the Transport Commission introduced 'Railday Tours' excursion tickets to Ross from either Hobart or Launceston, using the Tasman Limited and which included guided tours of historic points of interest in the town.
