It is December 1973 and a 442 class hurries the Down North Coast Daylight Express through the small station at Newee Creek between Macksville and Nambucca Heads, NSW. (wp7713 via Flickr)

Special passenger train Sydney to Roma St (Leon Batman)

Bryan Vanderstelt:

I remember that day Leon. Was it not some kind of charter for Pacific islanders going to some convention somewhere? It was a real treat soon after NL1/2 and NL3/4 getting the chop. A real "one off"!

Leon Batman:

Bryan Vanderstelt Sounds about right

Dane Graham:

NL1-4 finished in February 1990.

Bryan Vanderstelt:

Dane Graham I'll go out on a limb and say Leon's date is wrong. Pretty damn sure it was 1990 after loco the Brisbane Limited and Pacific Coast Motorail wound up.
