Name meaning : From Glen Orchy, Scotland, meaning "glen of tumbling waters".
Notes : Tasmanian Transport Museum (from 3/12/1983) operates from the location, station building from New Town & signal box from Botanical Gardens relocated to the site. The site has extensive facilities related to the museum including a turntable (relocated from Brighton), roundhouse and associated sidings. The location had watering facilities at either end of the platform and a Down side loop facing the platform. An Up side loop siding was to the west of the station. Overpass removed in early 80s.
