As a local, I remember John from his railway days as a signal painter, plus from seeing him around Coffs from time to time.

I remember John,, as far back as the 100 mtrs races at the railway picnic,, then later when he came around to the signal box,, painting the signal posts ,, sad news 😪😪😪RIP John

I remember a day back in the early 80's when he hung by one hand as he painted the up home lower quadrant at Coramba. He impressed me with his agility. Over the next few days, during his breaks from signal painting, he'd make his way back to the station and we used to chat about his dancing interests, among other things. To his family, I'm sorry for your loss.
